    A large global law firm seeks a Tax Manager to join their Los Angeles team.

    Responsibilities:

    You will be responsible for acting as a tax resource for the firm with regards to preparing U.S. federal & state income tax return schedules, tax compliance, and tax procedures. You will lead the Tax Analysts and Senior Tax Analysts and support the Directors of Tax with daily responsibilities of the Global Tax Department. You will develop and supervise your staff by performing a multitude of responsibilities, including but not limited to, hiring, assignment, training, evaluation, discipline, termination, and salary and bonus administration, while accomplishing these and other critical functions:

    • Developing and mentoring the Tax Analysts and Senior Tax Analysts and leading them in their professional development endeavors
    • Organizing, assigning, delegating, and coordinating the work of the tax staff to ensure department objectives are met timely and accurately, and firm tax procedures are aligned with firm goals and strategies
    • Working with the local Human Resources Department regarding the following areas: selection, training, coaching, and disciplining departmental employees
    • Managing the tax compliance of all U.S. federal and state tax returns, including composite returns filed on behalf of non-resident partners
    • Managing the firm’s U.S. federal, state, and local tax audits
    • Ensuring the firm’s compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local governmental tax laws and regulations, including but not limited to income, sales/use taxes, business tax and property tax
    • Assisting with being a primary liaison with the firm’s outside tax advisors; managing the process of preparing and providing information to external tax accountants with respect to the preparation of the U.S. federal and state partnership tax returns
    • Reviewing tax schedules for the preparation of the U.S. federal and state partnership income tax returns, business tax returns, sales/use tax returns, and property tax returns
    • Facilitating and managing the payment of partners’ composite return liabilities and non-resident withholding
    • Assisting the Directors of Tax with the development and implementation of U.S. federal and state tax policies and systems
    • Researching U.S. federal, state, and local tax issues using CCH, BNA, and Lexis
    • Assisting with liaising with all areas of the firm where overlap exists to develop efficient procedures and satisfy various department needs
    • Working with the Directors of Tax to identify and complete projects on various issues when needed
    • Monitoring tax developments and communicating the impact to management

    Qualifications: 

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field is required.
    • A CPA license is desired.
    • A Master’s degree in Business Taxation or JD is desired.
    • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in public accounting at a multi-office professional services organization is desired.
    • A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience at a professional services environment is desired.
    • Experience preparing US federal and state partnership income tax returns is desired.
