    Global law firm seeks a Practice Analyst to join their Los Angeles office. Reporting to the Practice Manager, this position is responsible for assisting the Department in supporting the strategic initiatives of, as well as the day-to-day tasks involved with managing the firm’s Litigation and Transactions Departments and practice areas. The Practice Analyst will assist in key areas of practice management.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepares client matter budgets, including modeling of representative matters.
    • Tracks performance against budgets, including weekly client reporting regarding changes in scope, accruals, and other performance metrics.
    • Assists in preparation of work plans and evaluates resources for matter teams.
    • Reviews financial reports in the areas of attorney utilization, client and matter realization, billing & collection and practice profitability to identify trends and issues.
    • Monitors progress against economic targets and goals and initiates follow-up, as needed.
    • Analyzes client performance data to identify client opportunities.
    • Analyzes the profitability of both traditional hourly and alternative fee arrangements.
    • Performs ad hoc projects and analyses as directed.

    Qualifications:

    • Possess excellent analytic and problem solving skills, with the ability to think on his/her feet in a fast paced environment, anticipate requirements, and consistently deliver exceptional customer service;
    • Have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with Finance, Pricing/Strategic Analytics, and Client Development;
    • Be organized, able to multi-task, manage time well, and work independently;
    • Exhibit superior attention to detail and pride in high quality deliverables;
    • Enjoy working in a fast-paced team and be motivated to continually learn and improve results;
    • Have excellent experience with Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word and Outlook, experience with databases a plus;
    • Have 2 to 5 years of experience in practice management, financial analysis or similar discipline, preferably in a law firm or other professional services environment; and
    • Hold a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Economics, Finance, or Accounting.
    • This position requires after business hours availability.
