  • Responsibilities

    Our client is a prestigious international law firm that is seeking a Court Services Attorney, to perform a wide array of general litigation research and support functions for counsel and staff.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Answer high-level procedural questions related to state and federal court filings;
    • Electronically files in east and west coast state and federal court jurisdictions;
    • Oversee and participate in court and agency filings in paper and electronic formats, adhere to individual court and judicial procedures and satisfy litigation deadlines;
    • Assists with work coordination between east and west Court Services departments;
    • Develops repository of judicial experience, updating with recent templates, docket sheets, sample documents, transcripts;
    • Reviews and edits documents for form and procedural compliance before service/filing;
    • Assists litigation attorneys and staff with procedural research assignments;
    • Performs docket research on Westlaw, Westlaw CourtExpress, LexisNexis, LexisNexis CourtLink, (PACER);
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

       

      Requirements

    • Juris Doctorate degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school required.
    • Well-versed in complicated procedural matters, and knowledgeable of applicable court rules and procedures with a concentration in state and federal appellate practice.
    • Familiar with Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure (FRAP), Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure (FRBP).
    • Knowledge of New York procedural statutes, court rules and procedures
    • Able to apply court rules in multiple jurisdictions quickly, efficiently, and in a manner which instills confidence and eliminates risk.
    • Ability to work under tight deadlines and multitask under demanding situations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • At least three years of experience working in a Managing Attorney’s Office, with experience in electronic filings and procedural issues required.
