Publicly traded REIT seeks a Fund Controller to join their Los Angeles team.
Overview:
Leadership and management of the opportunity funds accounting practices, monitoring of its investments, financial reporting, and organizing, directing and controlling the work of the accounting personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Directs and manages the opportunity funds accounting functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principals
- Financial reporting, including quarterly financial reporting, investor reporting, and internal monthly reporting
- Recommends and develops policies, procedures, reports, and systems to meet company objectives
- Identify, research and recommends resolutions to accounting issues
- Manage partnership funding requirements and commitments including capital calls
- Monitoring investments
- Partnership compliance and administration
- Annual audit requirements
- Return calculations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, MBA a plus
- Certified Public Accountant-including keeping abreast of current accounting pronouncements
- 15+ years in accounting, including 4-6 years in public accounting
- Prior experience in the real estate industry
- Technical skills and experience in financial reporting, consolidation accounting, and foreign currency accounting
- Transaction experience and experience with partnerships especially distribution provisions.
