    A leading global real estate investment firm seeks a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting to join their team.

     

    Responsibilities:

     

    Manage and participate in the preparation of all external financial reporting for a public REIT. Coordinate information gathering for accounting and financial reporting matters for quarterly external reporting, which involves extensive interactions with accounting, legal and investment personnel. Interact with and provide information to the Company’s internal and external auditors. Reports to Vice President, Financial Reporting.

     

    • Prepare and coordinate the SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, registration statements, earnings releases, etc., including XBRL tagging) of a complex REIT with a diverse portfolio of investments and a significant investment management segment
    • Prepare, gather, document and review support documentation for financial reporting, including overseeing and coordinating with offshore team
    • Assist in Edgar/XBRL submissions
    • Assist in maintaining global chart of accounts and account mapping for public REIT reporting
    • Assist in design of system reports and processes that enhances timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting
    • Monitor, enhance, implement and adhere to formal processes for internal controls surrounding the reporting process to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) section 404 requirements
    • Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting

     

    Qualifications:

    • Strong current knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting rules and regulations
    • 3-5 years of recent experience in accounting and financial reporting roles, including public accounting experience with large active public clients/SEC reporting exposure.
    • Education: BA in Accounting or equivalent
    • CPA required (need not be active)
    • Experience with Workiva (Webfilings) software and knowledge of XBRL desirable
    • Experience with Yardi and Anaplan a plus
    • Strong understanding of consolidation, noncontrolling interest, complex equity structures
    • Project management skills – ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects from start to finish, incorporating feedback from multiple sources. Ability to multi-task and meet critical deadlines
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and commitment to accuracy coupled with ability to self-review and identify “big picture” issues
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as maturity and poise to interact with all levels of personnel
    • Self-starter with initiative to challenge and improve current processes
    • Strong sense of ownership and commitment to quality work product
    • Strong knowledge of MS Suite
    • Investment management or real estate industry experience preferred
