Job Description
NBC Connecticut is looking for an innovative consumer investigative reporter to join our team. The successful candidate will be expected to enterprise and produce consumer and investigative news stories and contribute to major breaking news events for NBC Connecticut. We pride ourselves on being the only local news station committed to helping our viewers solve consumer problems and work to get their money back through our Responds brand. This role would be responsible for handling those responsibilities in addition to turning consumer content. We are building a culture of innovation and experimentation. We are looking for a creative thinker who is willing to experiment with telling stories in non-traditional ways to reach new audiences across any device.
The applicant should have a good understanding of how to deliver meaningful and impactful stories for our digital and broadcast platforms. An understanding of how to tell stories on our digital platforms is a must.
Responsibilities ** __**
Research, develop, write, and produce enterprise consumer news stories.
Take ownership over our Responds brand by working to resolve consumer complaints from viewers, interview people we’ve helped and produce regular Responds packages for broadcast and digital.
Generate quick turn consumer and investigative packages while juggling longer turn stories.
Enterprise consumer/investigative content across all on-air and digital platforms
Develop and maintain sources that will generate exclusive reports
Contribute research and analysis on major breaking news events
Ability to add depth and provide context to big stories, especially consumer and investigative stories
Strong ad-lib skills to calmly and effectively deliver news reports
Collaborate with the news team including anchors, reporters, assignment desk, producers and digital team.
