Job Description
WNJU Telemundo 47 is looking for a self-starter with strong writing skills to work at the New York duopoly with WNBC. Candidates must understand the power of visual storytelling. They must be well-versed on social media and understand how to gather the best video content online. They must also thrive under pressure. New York is a big breaking news market so it’s important that candidates have a strong desire to deliver news as is happening.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with EPs, Show Producers, Anchors, Reporters and Assignment Editors to write content with strategy, including headlines, teasers, news briefs, anchor intros and lead-ins
Ability to write, desktop edit and gather content for all WNJU’s platforms; including newscast and digital
Produce under heavy deadline pressure without compromising credibility.
Understand graphic programs to visually enhance and showcase stories with production.
Use social media tools to stay on top of news events and compelling video/pictures.
Collaborate with members of the WNJU team across all platforms to ensure the most complete local news coverage is both fair and accurate.
Ability to execute in a daily breaking news environment
Produces under tight deadlines and attend editorial meetings
Respond to breaking news with urgency and accuracy.
Must have an excellent command of the English & Spanish language: spelling, and grammar
Distinguishes what events are considered news in the market
Contributes story ideas, participates in daily coverage decisions
Understands and follows all Telemundo News standards and ethics
Other duties as assigned by News Director & Executive Producer
Salary: 70k-105k
