    Position Description

    Technical Design Consultant uses their design, construction, and product knowledge to support a unique window shade and acoustical system consulting service. This role will utilize climate-based daylight modeling to design the most appropriate fabric and shading system based on unique project requirements. Technical Design Consultant use REVIT/BIM, etc to create an analysis report that supports the customer's needs and develop construction details to be included into architectural bid sets. [BG1] The Technical Design Consultant will manage projects of all sizes and scope, refining internal processes, and guide the program's technical direction using extensive technical and leadership skills.     Position Key Criteria/Requirements

    • At least 2-3 years of professional experience in BIM/VDC implementation.
    • Architectural or Building Science degree or equivalent experience required.
    • Must demonstrate proficiency in using Revit Architecture.
    • Travel to client sites and/or industry-relevant tradeshows, as needed.

    Position Measurable Accountabilities

    • Find solutions to design issues regarding site constraints, applicable regulations, budgets, and timing.[BG5] [BG6]
    • Use Revit to model shades into the architectural BIM model to assist in developing project documents for bidding and construction.
    • Create project-specific mounting and installation details, material takeoffs, product submittals, wiring diagrams, and written product specifications.
    • Import the Revit model into Rhino/ClimateStudio to study solar radiation, daylighting, and glare probability.
    • Attend project meetings to address technical coordination concerns and start and track RFIs.
    • Write technical documentation for standards and current workflows as well as the development of new ones.

    Position Key Technical Competencies

    • Able to communicate building performance studies (heat & light) and product suggestions to clients as well as technical trade-offs in manufactured product solutions.
    • Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
    • Blue Beam Software
    • Revit Architecture.
    • Preferred experience using AutoCAD and/or ClimateStudio.
    • Ability to use Photoshop, PowerPoint, or other rendering computer graphics programs a plus.
    • Able to understand and interpret the technical requirements of contract documents, plans, specifications, and site conditions.
    • Knowledge of commercial construction processes, trades, and projects.
    • Knowledge of building science and passive design concepts for building façade performance and energy efficiency.
