The ideal candidate will oversee project financials, manage AR/AP, handle OCIP and union reporting, and support labor compliance, all while leading office staff and maintaining operational efficiency. Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Project Accountant to join our growing team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the financial integrity of construction projects by managing project accounting, compliance, reporting, and daily operations. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in construction accounting, excellent organizational and leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of project lifecycle financials.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of project accounting including cost tracking, budget monitoring, and job cost analysis
Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate and timely reporting of project financials
Review and reconcile bank accounts for accuracy and completeness
Oversee accounts receivable functions including billing, collections, and revenue recognition
Review and verify accounts payable to ensure proper documentation and timely payment
Monitor and manage cash flow to support operational and project needs
Handle OCIP (Owner-Controlled Insurance Program) reporting and enrollment
Prepare and submit union trust reports in accordance with applicable agreements
Maintain and manage the Siteline system to ensure data accuracy and reporting efficiency
Ensure labor compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations
Review subcontract agreements and supporting documentation to ensure compliance and manage risk
Manage office staff and oversee daily administrative and operational functions
Support internal and external audits by preparing and providing necessary documentation
Maintain strong internal controls and identify opportunities for process improvement
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry
Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, Siteline)
Solid understanding of GAAP and job cost accounting practices
Experience with OCIP, union compliance, and construction-specific financial reporting
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
