Contractor Training Center in Richmond, VA, is seeking a Virtual Electrical Course Developer / Trainer to teach in the following areas:

    • Electrical Codes
    • Electrical Theory & Principles
    • Electrical Installation & Construction

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    As a Virtual Electrical Course Developer / Trainer, you will have a passion for helping students attain their career goals. The Virtual Course Developer / Trainer works with the course development team to prepare electrical curriculum and learning modules to prepare students to pass state licensing exams. The Virtual Course Developer / Trainer will present live-stream courses and offer remedial support to students who are attending classes.

    The successful candidate is consistently motivating, engaging, mentoring, encouraging, and fundamentally passionate about teaching to help students to gain the confidence and skills necessary to successfully pass electrical trade exams. The successful candidate will be a role model, set an expectation of the profession, and deliver quality educational opportunities to our students in a virtual, interactive live webinar-style environment.

    SCHEDULE:

    This position is a part-time, remote position, with a total of 16 Live Webinar hours per month. Live Classes can take place on Wednesdays through Fridays at Contractor Training Center Facility in Richmond, Virginia. Some classes are delivered as a Live Webinar broadcast allowing qualified candidates living outside of the Richmond area to live-stream training courses in an online classroom setting with the use of microphone/webcam equipment. Classes begin at 9:00 am ET and end at 4 pm ET. 

    DUTIES:                                        

    When the instructor is not teaching live classes, remaining duties include answering support calls & tickets from students, developing & recording online modules that have been prepared by training department/course developers, auditing existing curriculum for accuracy, content, & correct reference information, and preparing any additional content as determined by training managers. Candidates must be proficient with technology possessing low-level IT knowledge necessary to work remotely and have experience with Powerpoint, Dropbox, Camtasia, and Zoom / GoToWebinar virtual meetings.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following tasks with minimal internal staff support:

    • Preparation and delivery of an approved curriculum based on company coursework and lesson plans in a live virtual classroom setting with the use of microphone/webcam equipment
    • Maintaining communication with all students and support tickets as requested by company administrative staff
    • Producing & recording learning modules that have been prepared by training department/course developers and assisting with the production/development of content.
    • Auditing existing curriculum for accuracy, content, & correct reference information, on an as-needed basis
    • Promotes a positive academic environment with a professional appearance and cultivate cooperative learning by maintaining academic standards and standard operating procedures
    • Teach Electrical Trades program courses.
    • Develop curriculum and course content as needed.
    • Assist in maintaining training program compliance activities
    • Procure, maintain, inspect, and operate various equipment and supplies necessary for program instruction.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of six years full-time or the equivalent part-time occupational experience in Electrical in a Foreman/Leadership role. -or- Associate's degree in Electrical trades, Construction, or closely related field from an accredited institution, or Associate’s degree in any field with at least four years minimum professional and practical experience working in the electrical industry, or a combination of education and experience, licenses, certifications.
    • Technical expertise and/or licenses in the majority of the subjects in which the instructor will be teaching. Disciplines include electrical theory and principles of electricity, International Building Codes, National Electrical Codes, and Electrical Safety.
    • Must possess or be eligible for certification and/or license, or other credentials required by contract and/or state of employment.
    • Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
    • Successful experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other appropriate media (Camtasia, Powerpoint) in instruction.
    • Must have reliable high-speed internet capable of streaming content for extended periods.
    • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and internal processes for training development.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the professional career paths and demands of the construction industry
    • Motivation and enthusiasm for teaching and having a sensitivity to student needs and interests

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 3 plus year's experience Virtual Training experience
    • Experience in developing technical training curriculum and teaching in a Webinar format
    • Previous teaching experience in a secondary, post-secondary, or professional/industrial environment
    • Electrical Contractor, Master or Journeyman’s license
    • 5 or more years of experience working as an Electrical journeyman, apprentice, supervisor, or foreman.

    TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Experience conducting webinars
    • Knowledge and experience using different CRM systems, Salesforce experience a plus
    • Highly proficient level computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
    • Prominent organization skills
    • Able to work in a fast-paced environment

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • This position requires flexible hours and adaptability. Ability to work remotely with Wi-Fi.
    • Some travel may be required.

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

    This Virtual Electrical Course Developer / Trainer position is a part-time (40 hours per month) contract position. In addition to a competitive hourly rate, we provide the following benefits:
