Picture yourself sitting in your room at night and you're ten YouTube videos deep. You wish you could simply relax and enjoy the content, but you find yourself constantly distracted by imagining how a hook could've been stronger, a shot more interesting, a script more catchy. Sound familiar? If so, read on!

Contrarian Thinking is searching for an elite visual storyteller and technically savvy editor/shooter - fondly known as a sheditor - who can create retention optimized YouTube videos that make people WANT to watch. If you know what it takes to keep audiences engaged through long form content, this is the position for you.

You'll be working with our video production team to create videos that provide education about money and business buying in an entertaining way to millions of viewers each month. If you know YouTube channels like Cleo Abrahm, Johnny Harris and Vox then you know what types of editors we are looking for.

We are searching for someone who…

• LOVES CONTENT - You create AND you consume. You know what is trending and what is happening in the world of online content. It will also help if you like learning about money and biz buying, because that's what we talk about.
• KNOWS A GREAT STORY - You can work with scripted or unscripted content and still create a compelling story. You have a solid understanding of timing, pacing and progression to keep a viewer engaged.
• UNDERSTANDS THE TOOLS - This is not your first time doing this. You have at least 5 years of experience in shooting and editing, and know Adobe Creative Suite like it's the back of your hand, specifically Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop to create the video that you want.
• INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS - While you know there are tried and true methods of what makes a good YouTube video, you are always looking to improve the standard of your videos. You have fresh ideas and want to bring them to the team.
• INDEPENDENT THINKER - You don't need your hand held but like collaborating with others. You can balance the work of a variety of projects & deadlines while working with different producers and team members.

Necessary Skills and Qualifications

Here's a list of primary skills we believe are necessary for this career:

• 5+ Years of Editing Experience
• Experience in applying music and sound effects to invoke emotions in video content
• Time management skills, with the ability to work within deadlines to deliver high-quality videos
• Understanding of shot framing, lighting techniques and what makes a shot visually interesting
• Experience in developing storyboards from a concept or script
• Demonstrated ability in utilizing visual animations to enhance storytelling in video content
• Strong storytelling skills and an understanding of narrative structure
• Excellent attention to detail, particularly in transitions, audio synchronization, and color grading
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Knowledge of current trends in long-form video editing and audience preferences
• Familiarity with optimizing videos for mobile viewing and platform-specific features
• Creativity, with a strong understanding of composition and visual storytelling
• Adaptability and flexibility in meeting the specific requirements and constraints of short-form videos

Why our work matters

The “Silver Tsunami” is in full effect, with Baby Boomers retiring and their businesses needing a succession plan.

Their businesses have been run for decades, many at a healthy profit, but alas, they have been overlooked by institutional investors.
