JARBO's client, a rapidly growing Construction Management firm in Olathe, KS is seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations while serving as a key partner to executive leadership. This role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, strengthening controls, and providing insights that drive business performance and growth.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to think strategically and lead teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights to leadership
- Manage cash flow, profitability, and overall financial health
Accounting & Compliance
- Oversee the close process and ensure timely, accurate financial statements
- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
- Coordinate external audits and tax filings
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and standards
Operations & Team Leadership
- Lead, develop, and mentor the finance and accounting team
- Improve systems, processes, and operational efficiency
- Partner cross-functionally to support business operations and decision-making
Risk & Oversight
- Safeguard company assets through strong internal controls
- Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and external partners
- Oversee insurance, risk management, and financial compliance activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, controls, and compliance
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems, preferably CMIC
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
