    Job Summary:

    Our Client is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Controller to oversee financial operations and support the company's growth trajectory. From day one, the Controller will take ownership of reconciling bank accounts—including managing the loan draw process—analyzing and forecasting cash flow, and ensuring accuracy and accountability within the bookkeeping function. This role is heavily involved in budgeting, forecasting, and capital management, playing a key role in financial planning and reporting. The Controller will also lead the finance function and provide oversight for select HR responsibilities, contributing to both strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Lead all day-to-day financial operations in alignment with the company's mission, vision, and values

    • Manage bank accounts, credit cards, reconciliations, and the L2 financial dashboard

    • Oversee Work In Progress (WIP) tracking for active jobs

    • Prepare and approve loan draws; manage cash flow and forecasting

    • Coordinate with CPA on annual tax filings, audits, and year-end reconciliations

    • Produce monthly and quarterly financial reports, including Builder 20 and cash analysis reports

    • Administer Sage accounting system, including user access and month-end/year-end closes

    • Manage real estate transactions including HUD approvals, lot purchases, and custom home invoicing

    • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing and vacation tracking

    • Oversee vendor compliance: COIs, W-9s, subcontractor agreements, and back charges

    • Support HOA operations, budgets, and year-end reporting

    • Administer insurance policies including health, liability, auto, and builder's risk

    • Manage office supplies, inventory, and internet services

    • Communicate regularly with the CEO, vendors, and team; lead weekly financial check-ins

    • Supervise accounting assistant and rental property manager; support other general operations as needed

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required

    • Experience in construction or real estate finance is a strong plus, but not required

    • Proficient in Excel; ability to build and manage forecasting and reporting tools

    • Experience with SAGE 100 preferred; openness to transition to QuickBooks is ideal

    • Strong financial acumen and attention to detail across all aspects of accounting and reporting

    • Clear and confident communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams and with leadership

    • Leadership style that aligns with a respectful, values-driven culture—someone who is hands-on, dependable, and team-oriented
