Controller/CFO – Residential Remodeling Company
Rapidly growing residential remodeling company with over $20 million in annual revenue, is seeking an experienced Controller/CFO to join our executive leadership team. This is a key position responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business, implementing best practices, and driving strategic planning to support continued growth.
This role is based at our headquarters in Troy, Michigan, and reports directly to the company’s ownership.
Position Overview:
The Controller/CFO will be responsible for all facets of financial planning and analysis, reporting, compliance, and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated financial leader with a strong background in construction or project-based accounting, who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and internal reporting
Oversee cost accounting, job costing, and pricing strategies across residential remodeling projects
Collaborate with company leadership and department managers to ensure operational efficiency and profitability
Develop and maintain internal controls, financial procedures, and compliance with GAAP standards
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for ownership
Provide strategic insights and recommendations to support business growth and long-term planning
Assist with technology and software implementation, including optimizing QuickBooks workflows
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role within the construction, remodeling, or related project-based industry
Strong knowledge of costing, pricing models, and financial performance metrics
Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software preferred
CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, collaborate across departments, and drive strategic initiatives
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
Self-starter with a hands-on, detail-oriented approach to financial management
