    Job Title: Automotive Dealership Controller

    Salary: $180,000.00

    Job Summary:

    The Automotive Dealership Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations of the dealership. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with manufacturer and regulatory requirements, and effective internal controls. The Controller works closely with the General Manager and department leaders to provide financial insight, improve profitability, and maintain efficient accounting processes.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage the dealership’s accounting department, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and title/registration functions.
    • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including manufacturer financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
    • Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and factory statements.
    • Monitor dealership cash flow and maintain proper internal controls to safeguard assets.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP, state regulations, and manufacturer reporting requirements.
    • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
    • Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
    • Coordinate and assist with annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
    • Review deals for proper documentation and accounting accuracy when necessary.
    • Work with department managers to review budgets, forecasts, and expense control.
    • Manage flooring schedules, vehicle inventory accounting, and lender relationships related to floorplan financing.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
    • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in an automotive dealership environment preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of dealership financial statements and manufacturer reporting.
    • Experience with dealership management systems, specifically CDK is mandatory.
    • Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
