  • Responsibilities

    Syndeo is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Controller to oversee the accounting operations of our client’s vertically integrated full-service commercial real estate company. This role is responsible for managing the financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and day-to-day accounting activities across multiple entities. The ideal candidate brings prior experience in a multi-entity environment—preferably in property management or real estate services, though experience in similar industries will be considered.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end close.
    • Prepare and analyze financial statements for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
    • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting packages for leadership.
    • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
    • Work closely with leadership to support business decisions with financial data and analysis.
    • Coordinate with external accountants for tax preparation, audits, and regulatory compliance.
    • Maintain accounting systems and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency.
    • Supervise and support a small accounting team (2-3 employees), providing coaching and development, with the capacity to grow the team as the company grows.
    • Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
    • Ensure timely reporting and consolidation of financial results for all entities.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
    • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi-entity accounting.
    • Prior experience in property management, real estate, or property services strongly desired.
    • Proven leadership skills and experience managing small teams preferred.
    • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
    • Proficiency in various accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAGE/Mas90, or similar platforms) and Microsoft Excel.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Experience implementing and/or improving financial systems and reporting processes preferred.

    Note: This position will be managing a small team in-office in East Wichita, typically Mon-Fri 8-5 pm
