    Position: Controller Salary Range: $90,000 to $120,000 annually depending on experience Location: Owings Mills, Maryland Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

    Position Overview Positive Pathways, Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the organization's financial operations. The Controller will be responsible for managing accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organization while supporting leadership with strategic financial planning.

    The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit or healthcare accounting experience, preferably within organizations serving individuals with developmental disabilities.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Management

    Oversee all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and general ledger management

    Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

    Ensure accuracy of financial records and compliance with accounting standards

    Monitor organizational cash flow and maintain financial stability

    Budgeting and Forecasting

    Develop annual budgets in collaboration with executive leadership

    Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis

    Assist leadership with financial forecasting and long term financial planning

    Compliance and Reporting

    Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations

    Support audits and prepare required financial documentation

    Maintain compliance with Maryland DDA and other regulatory requirements when applicable

    Internal Controls and Financial Oversight

    Develop and maintain internal financial controls and procedures

    Identify opportunities to improve financial systems and reporting processes

    Oversee financial policies and ensure proper documentation practices

    Leadership and Collaboration

    Work closely with HR and leadership regarding payroll, benefits, and financial planning

    Provide financial insight and recommendations to executive leadership

    Assist with strategic planning and organizational growth initiatives

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required

    CPA or MBA

    Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience

    Experience with nonprofit or healthcare organizations preferred

    Experience with payroll systems and financial software

    Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards

    Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills

    Preferred Experience

    Experience working with nonprofit organizations

    Knowledge of Maryland DDA services or healthcare funding models

    Experience with budgeting for multi program service organizations
