ETC Florida is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting and financial management functions. This role is focused on financial reporting, close processes, cash management, and job-cost accounting, while partnering with operations to drive financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
Own the full-cycle accounting function, including month-end close, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
Maintain and optimize QuickBooks Desktop as the system of record.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
Lead cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization, with a focus on construction project cash cycles.
Monitor and manage accounts receivable, collections, and billing cycles, ensuring alignment with project milestones.
Oversee accounts payable processes and optimize payment timing.
Project & Job Cost Accounting
Drive accurate job costing, WIP reporting, and project profitability analysis.
Partner with operations to provide insights on labor productivity, cost overruns, and material usage.
Establish and maintain strong cost tracking and revenue recognition practices for project-based accounting.
Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement
Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
Ensure compliance with payroll tax, sales/use tax, and insurance requirements.
Lead continuous improvements in financial processes, reporting accuracy, and system efficiency.
Strategic Finance & Business Partnership
Support leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
Provide financial insights to support growth initiatives, including potential acquisitions and expansion planning.
Present clear, actionable financial reporting to ownership and senior leadership.
Team Leadership
Oversee and mentor accounting and administrative staff, ensuring accountability and performance.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, project management, and procurement.
Qualifications
7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with construction or project-based accounting strongly preferred
Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader
Strong expertise in:
QuickBooks Desktop
Month-end close and financial reporting
Cash flow forecasting
Job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition
Advanced Excel skills
CPA or CMA strongly preferred (MBA a plus)
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $160K–$180K
