    Controller – Multi-Division Contractor

    A rapidly expanding contractor with multiple operating divisions is seeking a Controller to lead all aspects of financial management, reporting, and team leadership. This position serves as a key business partner to senior leadership and plays a critical role in shaping financial strategy, improving operational performance, and supporting continued organizational growth.

    Role Overview

    The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, long-term financial planning, cash management, and compliance activities across the organization. This individual will be central in strengthening internal controls, enhancing financial processes, and guiding a high-performing accounting team. The ideal candidate is confident, detail-oriented, and capable of leading both strategy and execution.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Operational Finance & Planning

    • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and multi-division financial planning
    • Build and refine financial models for cash flow, project performance, and capital needs
    • Provide executive leadership with insight into financial trends, risks, and growth opportunities

    Reporting & Accounting Oversight

    • Manage monthly close, general ledger accuracy, and division-level reporting
    • Prepare and review WIP schedules, job-level financials, and variance analysis
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain readiness for external audits
    • Oversee treasury functions, cash position monitoring, and banking relationships

    Systems, Processes & Controls

    • Strengthen internal controls across accounting processes
    • Drive improvements to ERP/accounting systems and workflow efficiency
    • Implement best practices in financial operations, documentation, and governance

    Payroll & Compensation

    • Oversee full-cycle payroll processing, including certified payroll where applicable
    • Maintain tracking for incentive, bonus, or performance-based compensation programs

    Leadership & Team Development

    • Manage and mentor the accounting/finance staff
    • Set expectations for accuracy, accountability, and process discipline
    • Build team capability as the organization continues to scale

    What You Bring

    • Hands-on WIP experience is required
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
    • 5+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
      • Experience in construction, telecom, manufacturing, or other project-driven industries strongly preferred
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to partner with senior leadership
    • Background with ERP/accounting systems and financial modeling
    • A proactive, solutions-driven mindset and willingness to take full ownership
