    A locally owned and operated construction company is **** seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead their financial operations. This is a pivotal leadership role, ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with strong construction industry experience and a passion for driving financial performance in a project-driven environment.

    Position Overview

    As our Controller, you will oversee the day-to-day accounting functions and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting. You’ll lead budgeting, forecasting, and job cost analysis while implementing best practices in financial management and compliance. This role requires both technical accounting expertise and the ability to see the big picture, working closely with project managers and executive leadership to support strategic decision-making.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, job cost accounting, and WIP reporting

    • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting

    • Prepare and manage cash flow forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses

    • Collaborate with project managers to monitor job costs, billing, and overall project profitability

    • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies

    • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures

    • Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and banking partners

    • Provide strategic financial insights and reporting to the CFO and executive team

    • Lead ERP and accounting system improvements (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar)

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred

    • Minimum 7 years of accounting experience , with at least 3 years in the construction or real estate industry

    • In-depth knowledge of construction accounting (e.g., percentage-of-completion, WIP, job costing)

    • Proficiency in construction-focused accounting systems and ERP software

    • Proven leadership experience and ability to mentor and manage accounting teams

    • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and thrive in a fast-paced environment
