Healthtrax is a nationally recognized pioneer in the creation of joint ventures that merge preventative and curative health care with Community Wellness Centers, partnering with hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, physicians and insurance companies. We are looking for a corporate controller in our corporate headquarters, located in Central Connecticut.
Healthtrax was established in 1979 and currently employs over 1200 people and improves the health of more than 100,000 individuals within our 17 locations in 5 states. The facilities and programs at Healthtrax integrate fitness, wellness education, traditional medical services and rehabilitation to improve health for life.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Position requires excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem solving skills with an ability to pay attention to detail. Successful candidate will exhibit self-initiative while accurately analyzing, preparing and presenting data with the ability to proactively resolve challenges and provide superior customer service to our management team, support staff and vendors.
The Controller provides financial services to corporate office management team, including legal counsel, as well as Senior Management in our Wellness Centers and HealthASSIST Divisions while managing a team of staff accountants.
WORK SCHEDULE
This full time position requires a weekly work schedule with fluctuations depending on deadline sensitive projects. Specific schedule to be determined with supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include and are not limited to
Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and related management reports
Maintenance of various management reports
Continuous improvements in the monthly financial closing process, relative to timeliness and accuracy of information and utilization of resources
Formulation, documentation and monitoring adherence to Corporate Accounting policies.
Maintenance of and upgrades to the Company’s general ledger system, consolidation system and financial reporting environment
Serving as the primary point of contact for the Company’s external accounting firm.
Cash management and banking.
Accounting for fixed assets purchases, sales/retirements and depreciation
Managing a staff of approximately three accounting professionals
Performing other duties as may be requested by supervisor
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of 10 years’ prior work experience, including three years in a management position for the responsibilities described above
Demonstrated ability to effect process improvements (efficiently use of resources, improve quality and timeliness of information) and motivate staff
Sound understanding of GAAP
Excellent financial systems skills
Excellent Word and Excel skills
Excellent organizational skills
Education
College degree in accounting/finance, preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
You will be working in an indoor, professional office environment. This position may be exposed to prolonged periods of sitting, in addition to standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching, lifting and climbing. Some limited travel may be required to various Healthtrax locations, company activities, community networking events and training sessions.
