Controller will take ownership of completing accurate monthly general ledger closing for numerous entities of a privately held consolidated group of companies. Understands the technical accounting rules required to produce GAAP financial statements. Takes ownership of the workflow (how data moves through the system), data flow (how data is entered and moves through the software(s) used by the business) and internal controls that exist or must be implemented throughout the business. Maintain financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems to ensure that assets are safeguarded and financial reports and analyses are timely and reliable.

JOB DUTIES:

• Supervise senior and junior accountants and support staff
• Manage monthly and annual year-end G/L close process
• Monthly review of G/L accounts, account reconciliation and identification of key variances
• Manage all accounting operations including Billing, Cash Application, A/R, A/P, GL, Banking and Revenue / Expenses Recognition for numerous entities.
• Maintains accounting staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
• Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Work with external auditors to provide information requested for the annual audit.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

• Strong working knowledge month end close processing, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, sales & use tax and banking.
• Professional leadership and managerial skills.
• Intermediate or above Excel skill level, especially V-Lookup, Sumif & Pivot Tables
• Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must exhibit a sense of urgency regarding matters that impact the Company.
• Sound business judgment and the ability to solve problems.
• Must be able to commute to our Addison, TX office, this is an in-office position.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Must have 10 years of accounting managerial experience.
• CPA certification is a plus
