Job Description:
We are a food manufacturing company and we are hiring a Controller to join our team in Kearny, NJ. This role will lead financial operations, oversee the accounting team, and play a key role in migrating our ERP system from Microsoft Great Plains to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This position is ideal for a hands-on finance leader with strong people skills and experience in product-based businesses.

About the Role:

The Controller will balance tactical accounting leadership with strategic financial insight. You will partner closely with leadership, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and guide systems and process improvements. This role is well-suited for someone who leads through influence, values team engagement, and can drive change without a heavy-handed, top-down approach.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bookkeeping

• Manage and support an established accounting team

• Partner with leadership on financial strategy and analysis

• Own ERP system administration and lead ERP migration initiatives

• Ensure accurate financial reporting and internal controls

• Work closely with external accountants as needed

• Improve processes while maintaining team engagement and trust

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Controller or senior finance leader

• Strong background in ERP systems, including Microsoft Great Plains and/or Business Central

• Experience with ERP implementations or migrations

• High-level financial analysis and reporting expertise

• Demonstrated people management and leadership skills

• Experience in product-based or cost accounting environments required

Preferred Qualifications:

• ERP migration leadership experience

• Strong change-management and communication skills
