Job Description
The Manufacturing Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the manufacturing operations within the company. This position ensures that financial reports are accurate, budgets are followed, and costs are controlled. The controller works closely with plant management, supply chain, and other departments to drive profitability and operational efficiency through sound financial practices, accurate reporting, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for the manufacturing division.
* Conduct variance analysis between actual results and budgeted/forecasted financial outcomes, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
* Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational efficiency and cost controls in the manufacturing process.
* Manage product costing, including material, labor, and overhead cost allocations to ensure accurate pricing and profitability analysis.
* Lead the annual budgeting process for the manufacturing unit, working with department heads to set realistic financial targets.
* Oversee cost control initiatives and implement cost reduction programs in coordination with operations and procurement teams.
* Work closely with plant management to improve manufacturing processes, minimize waste, and optimize production efficiency.
* Participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives or other continuous improvement programs to drive cost savings.
* Monitor inventory levels and manage costing for raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.
* Establish and maintain strong internal controls over financial processes, including purchasing, production, inventory, and payroll.
* Ensure compliance with corporate policies, industry regulations, and accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
* Manage audits and ensure the timely resolution of audit findings.
* Provide strategic financial insights to support long-term business planning and decision-making.
* Collaborate with senior management to assess capital investment projects and evaluate their impact on financial performance.
* Drive working capital improvements by monitoring receivables, payables, and inventory turnover.
* Lead and mentor the accounting and finance team within the manufacturing division.
* Ensure continuous development of the finance team through training, performance management, and career development programs.
