The Controller is primarily responsible for managing the financial administration of our three operating companies: A Merante Contracting, AMC Transport, Inc., Advanced Pipe Technologies, and may be minimally responsible for assisting with the financial administration of five small property holding companies. This is a hands-on position with responsibilities that may include but are not limited to:
- Preparing, analyzing and reviewing the financial reports such as: Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Loan Balances, and WIPs with President of the company
- Managing, hiring and assigning duties for employees within the accounting department
- Preparing and maintaining quarterly reporting for construction bonding and banking
- Managing and monitoring all banking activity including account balances and cash management, Coordination with banking representatives, and LOC applications and renewal agreements
- Creating check\balance systems
- Preparing quarterly and year-end financial reports and year-end corporate tax returns
- Monitoring and managing 401k third party administrators
- Monitoring and managing the captive insurance program and other policies
- Coordinating and managing external and 3rd party auditors
- Setting up new jobs and vendors in Foundation (our construction accounting software)
- Processing accounts receivable billings, cash receipts and collecting payments
- Posting journal entries including the multiple intercompany transfers between co-owned businesses
- Entering invoices into the accounting software
- Reconciling monthly bank and credit card statements
- Completing compliance and tax reporting such as IFTA, Fuel, etc.
- Collecting property rent payments and ensuring real estate taxes are paid
- Providing backup for the Account Payable/Payroll position when needed
- Processing accounts payable checks
- Completing credit applications and maintaining records
- Completing miscellaneous projects within the accounting department
- Saving delivery receipts to the server
- Routing invoices to the proper approver and ensuring completion
- Posting invoices after approvals are received
- Monthly and/or quarterly WIP reports

Controller Qualifications
- Experience with the construction industry and job costing is required. Public and government-agency construction experience is preferred.
- Mastery of our construction accounting software will be required within 6 months (Foundation). Foundation experience is highly preferred but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required. Master's degree is preferred.
- Proficiency with union reporting, auditing and certified payrolls is required.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook and all forms of data entry is required.
- Valid CPA license is preferred.
- Experience with Foundation Accounting Software is preferred.
This Controller position is full-time, permanent and in-office.
