Summary
The Plant Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer. S/He provides strong financial and operational management and is a key member of the finance team. This role is responsible for planning and coordinating budget and business activities for general accounting, cost accounting, variance reporting, business analysis, and inventory valuation in alignment with corporate policies and generally accepted accounting principles. Key areas of responsibility include spend analysis, material and labor variance analysis, forecasting, KPI management and reporting, asset safeguarding, and cost control initiatives.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the accuracy of the standard costs starting with the bill of materials and item costs, labor routings, labor rates, as well as overhead assignments.
Reports variances to set standards and assist with Operations with Root Cause Analysis and corrective action development.
Analyzes and models changes in product design, raw materials, overhead, manufacturing methods, etc., for effects on production costs.
Coordinates annual audits in collaboration and support of the CFO.
Ensures items are correctly classified and all reporting is prepared in accordance with IFRS
Assists with estimating, tracking, and reporting costs associated with new product development and contract manufacturing, and private label partners.
Offer financial guidance and support to plant management when they need to make decisions about cost reduction, and capacity planning.
Timely prepares and issues monthly financial statements with comparisons to budget and to forecast.
Responsible for preparing payroll, ensuring its accuracy and proper account distribution utilizing APS.
Responsible for recording daily cash receipts.
Maintenance of Accounts Receivable ledger
Reconciles all Balance Sheet Accounts monthly.
Supports Sales and Marketing with Product Pricing utilizing guidelines set in collaboration with CEO and CFO.
Support plant/corporate (cost savings) programs toward driving YoY productivity improvements.
Ensures an adequate system of internal control is maintained, and that general ledger accounts are correctly stated, maintains required compliance.
Actively manage Net Working Capital, with a focus on A/R, A/P, and inventory optimization; and prepares Cash Flow Forecasts.
Prepares annual property tax.
Regulatory compliance reporting
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will directly oversee up to two (2) exempt staff members.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance
MBA, CPA, or CMA is preferred.
5 to 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience with NetSuite Financial software, desired
Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS reporting standards
Must have a proven record of success as a strategically oriented financial manager with knowledge of cost accounting, production planning and operations analysis.
Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, lookups, analytics, effective model building, etc.)
High level of customer focus.
