We are working with a long-standing construction related firm in Metairie looking for a hands-on Controller to manage its day-to-day accounting operations. This role works directly with the owner and is best suited for someone who is comfortable operating independently, managing full-cycle accounting, and maintaining structure in a small, fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations
- Process bi-weekly payroll for almost 20 employees
- Manage AP, AR
- Prepare monthly financial statements
- Handle banking activity, reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring
- Manage job-cost or project-based accounting (preferred)
- Organize and prepare financial documentation for the CPA to do tax returns
- Support the owner with reporting and general financial oversight
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online
- Experience in construction, or job-cost accounting, WIP, strongly preferred
- 5+ years of broad accounting experience
- Ability to work independently and communicate directly with ownership
- CPA is a plus but not required
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
