Child Evangelism Fellowship of Virginia is seeking an experienced Controller to provide financial leadership, strengthen internal controls, and support the financial health of our statewide ministry and local chapters.
This newly established position is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys building systems, improving processes, and providing strategic financial guidance in a nonprofit ministry environment.
What You'll Do
As Controller, you will:
Lead financial oversight, reporting, and compliance activities
Strengthen internal controls and financial procedures
Oversee accounting operations, budgeting, payroll, and cash management
Prepare and present financial reports for leadership, Board, and Finance Committee
Support local chapter financial operations and treasurers
Coordinate Form 990 preparation and other regulatory filings
Oversee QuickBooks administration and financial systems
Assist with implementation and integration of donor management/CRM systems
Supervise and support the Staff Accountant
Provide strategic financial recommendations that support ministry growth and sustainability
Qualifications
Required
Active involvement in a local church
Agreement with the CEF Statement of Faith and Ministry Compliance Agreement
Commitment to the mission and values of Child Evangelism Fellowship
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls
Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
Ability to work independently and develop effective financial processes
Preferred
CPA or equivalent professional certification
Experience with nonprofit or faith-based organizations
Experience with donor management/CRM systems
Knowledge of ADP or similar payroll platforms
Experience supporting multiple entities, locations, or chapters
