Company Overview:
A growing food manufacturing company with approximately $90M in revenue is seeking a Controller to support its two fast-rising bakery brands: a low-carb, high-protein bread and bagel line, and a premium artisan bread company. With around 30 employees, this organization is scaling quickly and focused on delivering high-quality consumer packaged goods in the bakery space.
Position Summary:
The company is seeking an experienced Controller to manage accounting and bookkeeping functions across both brands, while also partnering strategically with the bakery operations team. The ideal candidate will be a CPA with experience in the manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry, strong knowledge of GAAP, and a proven track record in similar multi-brand or multi-division environments. This role requires a high-energy, hands-on leader who thrives in a collaborative setting. The Controller will report to the SVP of Finance and be based in Seattle, WA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the monthly financial close process, including all necessary accruals
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement packages
- Analyze financial statements against historical trends and budget
- Maintain and distribute a 13-week cash flow forecast
- Manage financial modules within the ERP system (currently Acumatica)
- Oversee billing and collections to ensure timely cash collection
- Manage inventory accounting, controls, and compliance
- Define and enforce GAAP-compliant accounting policies
- Oversee sales tax and income tax compliance and reporting
- Support annual financial and tax audits
- Serve as the primary point of contact for treasury management
- Supervise staff accountant(s)
Qualifications:
- CPA required
- 10+ years of accounting experience, including 5+ years in CPG or manufacturing
- Demonstrated success in a similar leadership role
- Highly organized, proactive, and hands-on
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, array formulas, data tables, multi-dimensional lookups)
- Comfortable with direct communication and open to giving and receiving feedback
