Title: Controller
Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Salary: $150,000 – $160,000 plus bonus, dependent on experience
Controller Role:
This role exists to provide hands-on leadership for the financial and accounting functions of the organization while ensuring rigorous regulatory compliance. Our client is seeking a strategic financial leader to manage essential reporting, forecasting, and audit functions during a long-term transition period following a planned retirement.
Controller Responsibilities:
- Manage all A/R, A/P, payroll, and general ledger functions
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP, including account reconciliations
- Execute revenue recognition and entity reporting with an emphasis on percentage-of-completion accounting
- Forecast cash flow and propose quarterly distributions to the parent company
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll and statutory tax reporting
- Lead the annual audit process with external accounting firms
- Oversee the NAV job cost system and maintain the cloud-based TimeClock Plus software
- Provide comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial analyses
- Serve as the 401k co-trustee and assist the parent company tax preparer
- Augment IT support functions in coordination with outside service providers
- Hire and cross-train an Assistant Controller to provide redundancy for critical tasks
- Collaborate with colleagues outside of the accounting environment to meet organizational deadlines
Controller Reporting Relationships:
- The Controller reports to the company owners and executive leadership. This position supervises the Payroll Supervisor and the Accounts Payable Specialist.
About You:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a required CPA certification
- Possess 5-10 years of accounting experience with a strong background in a supervisory capacity
- Bring 2-4 years of public accounting audit experience
- Demonstrate expertise in revenue recognition standards, specifically percentage-of-completion accounting
- Have experience in manufacturing or maritime industries
- Show proficiency in multi-entity financial reporting and consolidations
- Maintain advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Microsoft Dynamics/NAV or Sage Intacct
- Display a high level of detail orientation and excellent follow-up practices
- Adapt effectively to a fast-paced environment through strong multitasking and prioritization
- Communicate effectively through both written and verbal channels
- Thrive in a team-oriented environment that requires leadership across various departments
- Reside in or are willing to relocate to the Cleveland area for a full-time, on-site role
