    Position Overview:

    Job Description:
    We're looking for a Financial Controller to over see daily accounting operations, enhance the accuracy of the reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards. The Controller will supervise members of the Finance team and will report directly to the CFO and participate in departmental activities, as necessary.

    The Controller will regularly communicate with senior management about budget variations and ensure that all legal entity and client budgets are accurately entered into NetSuite accounting software system. This position will significantly participate in the department's audit preparation process. This position has access to sensitive VitalCheck financial information, such as client and PHI data and is expected to oversee such information with integrity and professionalism.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Works closely with the CEO and CFO in developing VitalCheck's Strategic Plan. Serves as the primary liaison to the CFO, working closely to strengthen VitalCheck's financial position.

    • Continually evaluates industry practices in comparison to internal systems, with an eye toward future needs and budget realities.

    • Overall financial management responsibility includes the continuing development and refinement of, as well as review and approval of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to managers, senior management, and the Board. Prepares special reports as needed by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.

    • Protects assets and the overall accuracy and reliability of VitalCheck's financial reporting by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing appropriate controls, policies, and procedures.

    • Will work closely with Senior Leadership and their staff to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures and will explore how the finance function can best support program functions.

    • Coordinate budgeting, oversee financial forecasting, cash flow, and preparation for annual audits, as well as taking final responsibility for accurate and well-managed accounts receivable and payable.

    • Supervise and continually develop finance staff by selecting, orienting, training, and cross-training employees.

    • Coordinate compliance among finance (US GAAP), tax, and healthcare (where applicable); ensure that Client managers are kept abreast of related contractual obligations, processes and controls, and that expenditures are consistently aligned with budgets; collate financial reporting materials for board or other internal and external reviews.

    • Manage and coordinate all federal, state, and local tax filings, including income, franchise, sales/use, and payroll taxes, working with external advisors as needed. Maintain compliance across multiple U.S. states and foreign countries. Oversee accurate tax accounting, provision entries, and support international tax matters.

    • Assist the management team in achieving budget objectives by advising on optimal scheduling of expenditures, creating transparent reporting processes, analyzing variances, and engaging necessary managers in discussions of appropriate steps to take thereby initiating corrective measures.

    • Ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing across multiple states and countries by reviewing payroll reports, approving special payments, reconciling payroll-related accounts, and overseeing payroll tax compliance, in coordination with HR and external providers.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, advanced degree, CPA track or certificate preferred.

    • 5-7+ years of experience with at least 3 years managing a Finance Department.

    • Demonstrated experience in specific hands – on work in financial management and accounting.

    • Experience with Netsuite required.

    • Intermediate/Advanced proficiency with Excel, and general comfort with digital technology, networked operations, office applications, and Adobe Acrobat.

    • Experience with financial controls and reporting, and financial audits, legal compliance, and budget development.

    • Success by seeing beyond the numbers, identifying trends and new possibilities.

    • Experience effectively communicating key data, including presentations to program managers, senior management, the Board or other outside stakeholders, funders, and influentials.

    • Proven effectiveness managing and developing others, empowering them to make decisions when appropriate.

    • Attentive to detail, producing consistent, reliable, accurate and understandable work products.

    • Demonstrates outstanding time management skills and interpersonal leadership. Strong written, verbal and listening communication skills.
