Job Description
Walker Elliott is assisting a growing, Dallas-based upstream oil & gas company in recruiting efforts to hire an experienced Controller to join its lean, high-impact team. This in-person role will report directly to the VP of Finance & Accounting and play a key role in leading the company's financial reporting, audits, and cross-functional collaboration across finance, land, engineering, and operations. Responsibilities:
Take ownership of the company's financial reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate statements that meet GAAP and stakeholder expectations
Coordinate and manage quarterly reporting deliverables for banks and private equity partners
Lead audit preparation and work closely with tax advisors on K-1s and related filings
Analyze the financial performance of new acquisitions and ensure accurate, timely payments with operators
Partner with teams across finance, land, and engineering to streamline key processes like accruals and cost tracking
Play a hands-on role in post-close workstreams for acquisitions and divestitures
Help develop team members and elevate the overall accounting function
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5+ years of relevant experience; CPA and upstream oil & gas background strongly preferred
Strong Excel skills and proficiency with oil & gas accounting systems
Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset
