    The Controller is responsible for applying accounting and finance principles to analyze financial information and assist in preparing financial reports. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing and maintaining monthly recurring journal entries; assisting with month-end close; analyzing budgets and financial plans; preparing business forecasts and statistical reports; preparing balance sheets and profit and loss statements; preparing federal, state, and local reports; and managing daily bookkeeping duties.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist the CFO with GL/Property Insurance for all properties and companies
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting for P/L and balance sheets
    • GL management for multiple companies
    • Prepare FS for all entities- construction reporting, property management reporting, restaurant reporting
    • Develop and maintain a clear understanding of real estate and asset management
    • Oversee lease collection and payment of vendors
    • Work with outside CPA ?rms for tax reporting
    • Assist the CFO with cash ?ow management
    • Job costing reported timely
    • Personal/Property tax reporting
    • Ensure timely ?ling of state and federal reports, such as EOC, BLS , EDD, etc.
    • Sales Tax reporting
    • Ensure proper tracking of daily sales, tips, and tax ?lings as it relates to restaurants
    • Manage payroll reporting for five companies
      • Review the Accuracy of input
      • Prepare input for GL for each
      • Deposit 401 (k) and HSA funds
      • Ensure all proper deductions/garnishments taken
    • 401K Trust fund management and audits
    • Assist in market shop for bene?ts and management of elections.
    • Manage workers’ compensation reporting and audits
    • Oversee employee credit cards and policies regarding spending and reimbursement
    • Ability to lead a team
    • Coach, mentor, and foster a team mentality

     

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance
    • 10+ years in a controller role
    • Experience in overseeing multi-entity or multi-location business
    • Background in property management, construction, and/or hospitality is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of GAAP, IRS, and tax regulations
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports.
    • Strong mathematical reasoning and the ability to apply it to your daily tasks
    • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and accounting software.
    • Experience with family-owned companies is a plus, especially as it pertains to balancing the needs of the company and those of the owner from a tax standpoint. Must have the highest degree of trust and confidentiality.
    • Experience in QuickBooks, ADP, AppFolio, and Toast is a plus
