    • No OT unless needed by manager in one off cases

    SUMMARY:

    • Encompasses research and testing of materials and their related fabrications and applications processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering applications in structures, systems and subsystems.
    • Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material structures.
    • Analyzes, researches and tests materials and their related fabrications and applications processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering applications in structures, systems and subsystems.
    • Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material structures.
    • Determines metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.
    • Develops material properties and designs allowable, processing processes and quality engineering specifications.

    Requirements:

    • Sound knowledge of job and a substantial acquaintance with the general aspects of the job.
    • Intermediate level technical understanding.
    • Implements standard procedures and proposes intermediate level modifications to improve workflow.
    • Still generally obtains input to solve more complex problems.
    • Works under general site supervision.
    • Able to gather information independently using established and defined procedures.
    • Able to train new employees to established procedures.
    • Takes initiative in the area of continuous improvement.
    • Uses some discretion.
    • Contacts are typically within organization.
    • May occasionally have contacts with others outside of the organization to seek clarity or ask for interpretation.

    Education/experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred but Associates degree with 2-3 years’ experience will also be fine. Chemistry/Material science degrees are preferred

    Technical Skills/Experience:

    •  Minimum of 3 years research or operation experience in chemistry and/or material processing
    • Strong experience in basic laboratory practices – following SOPs, record-keeping, organization skills, operation of routine laboratory analytical equipment, keeping-track of experimental variations
    •  Understanding of glass surfaces, surface chemistry, surface modification
    • Experience in material processing (coatings, printing, photochemistry, thin film fabrication)
    •  Experienced in the operation of routine laboratory analytical equipment
    •  Experienced in basic scientific data analysis software.

    THIS IS A CONTRACT POSITION.

    • Location: USA - NY - Corning
    • Duration of contract: 8 Months
    • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred but Associates degree with 2-3 years’ experience.
    • Pay Rate: 12-22 per hr
