An established manufacturing facility in Pueblo, Colorado is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to join their team. This role is responsible for developing and improving industrial processes, as well as designing new process equipment or modifying existing systems within a highly automated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support production and maintenance operations within a highly automated manufacturing plant
Design, develop, and implement control systems (hardware and software) to improve production efficiency, product quality, equipment performance, energy consumption, reduce downtime, and enhance overall process automation
Develop a comprehensive understanding of plant process control systems and their impact across the production line
Analyze, troubleshoot, and enhance programmable logic controllers (PLC) and human-machine interface (HMI) systems
Recommend and implement improvements to optimize production processes and equipment reliability
Design and monitor performance indicators and integrate control systems with company information systems
Provide ongoing maintenance support and resolve process control system issues, taking ownership through final resolution
Develop requirement specifications, high-level system designs, and architecture documentation related to production control systems
Support and manage automation and controls-related projects
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automated Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field
5+ years of relevant automation or controls engineering experience in an industrial environment
Experience working with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Fanuc, Modicon, or similar systems, as well as variable frequency drives (VFDs)
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
Proven teamwork, communication (written and verbal), organizational, and administrative skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Must be available to be on call and assist personnel during emergencies or critical business needs
