    Controls Engineer

    Champlin, MN | Direct Hire | $100k - $130k

    The Controls Engineer leads the development of PLC and HMI programs for the efficient operation of the company’s products, ensuring compliance with quality, production, and customer requirements.

    Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop, and oversee PLC, HMI, and remote I/O programming in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    • Interpret customer specifications and guide engineers and designers.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve design, manufacturing, and quality issues.
    • Provide training, documentation, and technical support to engineering teams.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and support new product development.
    • Maintain relationships with suppliers and provide on-site technical support (up to 25% travel).
    • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and housekeeping standards.

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • BS in engineering (or 2-year technical degree with equivalent experience).
    • 10+ years of engineering experience.
    • Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming (Emerson PAC Machine Edition, Allen Bradley Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, etc.).
    • Experience with communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet IP, Profinet).
    • Project coordination and management skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and PLC/HMI software.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Experience with SCADA integration (Ignition, Wonderware, etc.).
    • Experience with Schweitzer AcSELerator, Schneider Electric, or GE Multilin software.
    • Background in renewables, energy markets, or battery systems.
