    If making an impact on the lives of young people helps get you out of bed in the morning, join our Summer Camp Staff for a challenging and rewarding experience of helping girls grow confidence, character, and courage. As a Camp Staffer, you will provide a blend of leadership, instruction, mentorship, and inspiration to campers while guiding them and sharing the joys and adventure of summer camp and program activities.

    Our Cook is responsible for managing the kitchen and providing quality food service for the duration of camp. The position requires the individual to provide indirect service to girls.

    No Girl Scout experience, not a problem! We are excited to diversify our staff to ensure representation for our campers.

    Our camp is located in northeast Indiana . Camp Ella J. Logan was founded on Lake Dewart in Syracuse, Indiana in 1928. Camp serves about 60 girls per week (and a barn full of horses), and days are filled with trails and traditions that empower campers through intentional activity design and cooperative leadership. Join us for a summer of growth, memories, and a few silly songs.

    This is seasonal summer employment (June 21 - July 17, 2026) which may include room and board. Must be 18 years old by June 21st.

    Pay Rate: $800 weekly, less taxes and other deductions.

    The Camp Cook is responsible for managing the commercial kitchen to provide quality food service for the duration of camp. The position requires the individual to provide indirect service to girls.

    Essential Duties:

    • Plan menus and order food.
    • Manage food budget and invoices to stay within budget.
    • Prepare and serve meals with assistance from kitchen staff and volunteers.
    • Supervise kitchen staff and volunteers.
    • Prepare and pack food for units for cookouts. Oversee menus for such events.
    • Ensure timely arrival of food supplies.
    • Monitor and maintain freezer and refrigeration temperature levels.
    • Complete appropriate end-of-season reports and procedures.
    • Maintain kitchen, food storage and dining area to meet American Camp Association (ACA) standards and state health laws.
    • Comply with the most current policies, procedures, and guidelines of GSNI-M, Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), state camp laws, and ACA standards as applicable.

    Education/Certification:

    • Proof of certification of SERV Safe or Food Safe Certification by the Health Department.
    • Willingness to become a member of GSUSA.

    Knowledge and Experience:

    • 1+ Years of experience in operating a commercial/camp-style kitchen.
    • Ability to plan menus and cook for groups of 30-50 people.
    • Knowledge of principles of nutrition and menu planning.
    • Ability to work with food service equipment and maintain a safe and orderly kitchen.
    • Knowledge of and experience in ordering, inventory, budgeting, food preparation, family-style and buffet serving, cleaning and institutional kitchen equipment.
    • Complete required coursework as assigned and provided by GSUSA and GSNI-M: GSUSA Online Orientation and Specific Camp Orientation.

    Essential Physical/Mental Requirements:

    • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and carrying items.
    • Acceptable range of body motion to complete essential duties.
    • Ability to focus on detail, accuracy, and safety of food and participants.

    Site Specific:

    • Room and Board available upon request or commuting available.

    • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.

    • A commitment and passion for the Girl Scout Mission and an ability to effectively promote and communicate the Mission and Vision to external and internal stakeholders.

    • Willingness to become a member of GSUSA .
