Job Summary
The Cook at Courtyard by Marriott is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality food items in accordance with brand standards, recipes, and food safety guidelines. This role requires the ability to work independently while maintaining efficiency, cleanliness, and consistency during service.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items according to Courtyard by Marriott standards and approved recipes
Set up, operate, and break down kitchen stations for service
Work independently as needed, demonstrating strong time management and self-direction
Ensure proper food preparation, cleaning, labeling, storage, and rotation in compliance with food safety regulations (FIFO)
Prep ingredients efficiently while minimizing waste and controlling food costs
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen, including equipment, utensils, and work areas
Monitor food quality, portioning, and presentation to ensure consistency
Assist with inventory, stocking, and receiving of food supplies
Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house team members
Accommodate guest requests and dietary needs when possible
Qualifications
Previous cooking or food service experience preferred
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety practices
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
