Kitchen Food Service Specialist
Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm
Community Psychiatric Institute, a leader in Behavioral Healthcare and Substance Abuse treatment in Essex County for over 50 years has an opening for a full-time Cook - Kitchen Food Service Specialist in our adult Partial Care Program.

Work under the direction of our program director to help manage and work with our other kitchen team members to assist with daily breakfast and lunch preparation & food service in a community behavioral health social service program in accordance with the Department of Agriculture's CACFP standards.
Responsibilities:
Work directly with other kitchen and administrative staff to coordinate daily, weekly and monthly meal planning under the Department of Agriculture's CACFP guidelines. .
Daily food prep, cooking and serving of breakfast and lunch for approximately 150 individuals daily ensuring that all meals are nutritious and delicious.
Assist with shopping & pick up of food and related supplies.
Maintain and uphold standards of sanitation and safety for food prep, cleanliness of all areas of kitchen and storage as required by local and State health departments.
Maintain a neat appearance at all times.
Keep kitchen and work areas clean and orderly.
Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with agency staff, patients of the program and other community partners.
Assist with program food pantry sponsored through partnership with the Community Foodbank of NJ.
Must hold current state-required sanitation Safe Food Hander certification/licensure or be willing to attend required course for certification within 30 days of hire through ServSafe.
Maintain all necessary Food Service records including Menus, Meal Counts, Kitchen Logs, and all Food purchase receipts and invoices.
Conduct regular inventory and ensure rotation of all food products utilizing a FIFO system.
Utilize sanitary and safe food handling techniques, including: use of gloves & hairnets, maintaining good personal hygiene, washing & sanitizing all serving & preparation equipment properly and labeling, dating & storing food correctly.
Perform other related duties as needed.
Required:
Valid New Jersey Driver's license for at least 5 years with good driving record.
Food Safety & Food Handling knowledge.
Patience and a supportive attitude.
5 years Kitchen/Cooking/Food service experience.
Knowledge of food services equipment.
Knowledge of Child Nutrition Program (CACFP) and food safety regulations a plus.
