Job Summary:
As the Sushi Restaurant Manager / Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, maintaining high service standards, managing staff, and ensuring a smooth and efficient dining experience. You will work closely with the culinary team to uphold our commitment to quality, tradition, and innovation in Japanese cuisine.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all restaurant operations including front and back of house
Manage and schedule staff (servers, kitchen, sushi chefs, hosts)
Ensure excellent customer service and handle customer inquiries or complaints professionally
Monitor food quality and presentation in collaboration with head chef
Manage inventory, supply orders, and vendor relationships
Maintain cleanliness and compliance with health and safety regulations
Train, motivate, and evaluate team performance
Implement cost control and budget management strategies
Drive sales and customer engagement through promotions and events
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a restaurant manager (sushi/Japanese cuisine experience preferred)
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Japanese food and dining culture a plus
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
ServSafe certification or equivalent preferred
Proficiency with POS systems and basic business software
