    Position Reference: 01CLFCO001

    CLF Consultants seeks a Cook at the Weber Basin Job Corps Center in the Ogden, Utah area. The Cook prepares and serves a wide variety of hot and cold meals for students in a high-volume dining operation, working from Government policy and standardized recipes while maintaining a clean, sanitary, and food-safe kitchen. This is a part-time, W-2 role (Service Contract Act covered) of approximately 1,040 hours per year.

    The successful candidate is a dependable production cook who is confident cooking from scratch in large quantities, scaling recipes to fluctuating meal counts, and holding food-safety and sanitation standards throughout every shift in a residential dining setting.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and cook a wide variety of hot and cold foods from Government policy and standardized recipes, including specialty sauces, soups, and stocks made from scratch.
    • Apply cooking techniques such as roasting, broiling, baking, frying, boiling, steaming, and stewing meats, fish, and poultry, and prep, slice, and cut food items.
    • Prepare fresh fruits and vegetables and cook foods in large quantities, adjusting recipes for the number of servings required and planning the cooking process to complete meals on time.
    • Maintain proper food temperatures within standard food-safety limits and present food in an appetizing manner.
    • Handle and store food in a clean, sanitary environment in accordance with all applicable food-safety laws and regulations.
    • Control and manage stock levels of food and supplies to support planned menus.
    • Operate, clean, and maintain standard kitchen equipment; clean and store utensils, pots, pans, and cooking tools.

    Required Qualifications

    • Experience cooking in a commercial, institutional, or high-volume kitchen setting.
    • Working knowledge of food-safety, sanitation, and proper food-storage practices.
    • Ability to prepare foods in large quantities and scale recipes to changing serving counts.
    • Physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and lift objects of 20 to 50 pounds, and occasionally more than 50 pounds.
    • Ability to pass the background screening required for work at a federal Job Corps Center.

    Strongly Preferred Qualifications

    • ServSafe or equivalent food-handler or food-manager certification.
    • Prior experience in a Job Corps Center, school, military, correctional, or other institutional dining operation.
    • Experience mentoring or directing kitchen support staff or student workers.
    • Familiarity with menu cycles, inventory control, and cost-conscious quantity cooking.

    Compensation and Engagement Details

    • Hourly base range: $16.85 to $20.40 per hour, commensurate with experience.
    • SCA Health and Welfare fringe benefit added on all paid hours.
    • Paid time off and federal holiday recognition consistent with Service Contract Act requirements.
    • Part-time schedule of approximately 1,040 hours per year, with predictable Center-set meal-service shifts.
    • CLFC PMO administrative support: onboarding, credential verification, and federal compliance attestation.
