Cook ll is a mid-level culinary role responsible for supporting the savory kitchen team in preparing and plating composed sandwiches, salads, and light entrées. This position is ideal for cooks with solid foundational skills who are looking to grow in a refined, service-driven environment while contributing to the daily success of Emma’s savory offerings.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with mise en place and daily prep for savory menu items, including slicing, marinating, roasting, and assembling components.
- Execute recipes and plating under the guidance of Cook 1 and kitchen leadership, ensuring consistency and attention to detail.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, following all sanitation and food safety protocols.
- Support service execution by preparing orders efficiently and communicating with the team to ensure smooth flow during busy periods.
- Monitor product quality and freshness, reporting any inconsistencies or issues to leadership.
- Follow prep lists and production schedules, ensuring readiness for service and special events.
- Participate in training and development, learning new techniques and contributing to a collaborative kitchen culture.

- Stand and walk for extended periods, often for the duration of a full shift.
- Bend, reach, and stoop frequently during food preparation and station maintenance.
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds , including bulk ingredients, kitchen equipment, and food containers.
- Work in a fast-paced, high-temperature kitchen environment with exposure to ovens, grills, and other heat-producing equipment.
- Use hands and arms for repetitive tasks such as chopping, mixing, plating, and cleaning.
- Maintain focus and attention to detail in a busy, high-volume setting.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and leadership, both verbally and in writing.
- Safely operate kitchen tools and equipment, including knives, slicers, mixers, and grills.
- 1–3 years of professional culinary experience.
- Basic knowledge of savory cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- ServSafe Certification preferred.
- Culinary education a plus.
