**Customer Experience Coordinating Librarian - Youth & Family Services - Teen Services - 40 Hours **

Pierce County Library System is excited to welcome a Coordinating Librarian for Youth and Family Services to help us support programs and services for teens ages 13-19. This position is a member of our Programs and Services team, and joins other coordinators, coordinating librarians, and Programs and Services Managers to help support the development and implementation of programs and services at the Library. This position will work in a collaborative environment with the Youth and Family Services team who collectively serve youth ages birth to 19, and their caregivers. The Coordinating Librarian will daily apply skills in project management, facilitation of work teams, and community engagement. This position will regularly convene twelve Teen Services staff assigned to our branch libraries, to facilitate professional development, helps staff align their work with strategic goals, and solicit input and involvement in centrally-coordinated efforts.
This position will help support established core programs for teens which focus on teen-led, hands-on experiences that fulfill their personal curiosity and cultivate practical skills. Our programs support teen mental health through activities that promote belonging, meaningful contributions to community, and help teens take an active role in their future. Knowledge of teen developmental needs, experience leading teens in informal learning, connected learning and/or service learning, and experience facilitating teen-led activities will be essential for this position. Training and education in serving teens, and the ability to apply that learning to support programs and services for teens, will be essential for the Coordinating Librarian as they fill this leadership role for the Pierce County Library System.
This role enriches core programs through collaboration and partnerships with community organizations, schools, agencies, etc. Willingness to learn and apply strategies for equity, inclusion, diversity and accessibility will be expected in the design, implementation, and evaluation of core programs and services. Outcome-based planning and evaluation, community engagement, and data will be used by the Coordinating Librarian to assess and implement existing and new programs in collaboration with the manager for Youth and Family Services.
This position works collaboratively within the library and outside the library. The Coordinating Librarian liaises frequently with internal support departments and PCLS’s training team to support the smooth functioning of programs and services. This position also forms and maintains relationships with community partners, attends community meetings, helps keep the library apprised of county and state changes or efforts affecting teens, and helps connect county and state service providers to local communities and branch libraries.
**Hiring Range: **$37.97- $44.01 per hour; Pay Grade Range: $37.97 - $52.54 per hour
**Compensation **
Pierce County Library System offers a compensation program which recognizes qualifications and experience relevant to each position. The starting pay is established typically within the hiring range below based upon the experience of the individual hired into the role. Our compensation package also includes annual increases for each additional year of experience and tenure in the role, up to the maximum (current year maximum outlined in pay grade range above). Eligibility for overtime is exclusive to positions which are FLSA status non-exempt below.

Position Summary
Coordinates and participates in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of assigned system-wide library services. Helps develop and deliver public programs, services and staff training that supports the Library’s strategic initiatives and core services. Provides quality customer assistance to all ages, and applies learning and developmental principles when designing service appropriate to any audience. Actively represents the Library in community activities, develops and responds to partnership opportunities, and promotes Library services and collections. May hire, train, supervise, coach, develop, engage, and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.

Work is conducted in a normal office setting or library environment that provides comfortable lighting, temperature and air conditions and/or regular contact with the public. When delivering service outside of PCLS locations, weather, physical, and environmental conditions will vary and work will adhere to additional PCLS safety protocols. Occasional light lifting, such as three to four reams of paper, four or five books, or other library materials up to 35 pounds may be required. Subject to sitting and standing for extended periods of time, talking, bending, reaching, and lifting objects weighing up to 30-35 pounds. May lift or push up to 50 pounds as needed. Must be able to lift and carry library materials and push/pull loaded carts.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices or meeting rooms, e.g. use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls and observance of fire regulations.
