    Position Summary

    BXI is seeking a Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair copiers, printers, and related office equipment in the Rochester/Syracuse area. Our home office is in Tonawanda, NY. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, technically skilled, and capable of working independently in both shop and field environments.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Build and maintain positive customer relationships while delivering exceptional service.
    • Install, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on copiers, printers, fax machines, and related office equipment.
    • Inspect, disassemble, repair, replace, reassemble, align, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
    • Maintain accurate parts inventory and ensure necessary parts are available to complete service calls efficiently.
    • Complete service requests, reports, and timesheets accurately and on time.
    • Communicate effectively with management regarding scheduling, customer needs, service issues, and job status.
    • Perform all work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Technical school training, associate degree in electronics, or equivalent experience preferred.
    • Previous field service experience in the office equipment industry preferred.
    • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Valid driver's license required.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Knowledge of copier, printer, and office equipment operation, installation, repair, and maintenance.
    • Ability to identify equipment malfunctions, analyze issues, and implement effective solutions.
    • Ability to interpret customer descriptions of technical problems and provide appropriate service solutions.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize potential equipment failures before they become critical.

    Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

    This position is primarily field-based and requires frequent local travel. Occasional evening, weekend, or overnight work may be required.

    Frequently:

    • Use hands to handle tools, equipment, and controls.
    • Perform repetitive motions, bending, twisting, reaching, and verbal communication with customers and team members.

    Occasionally:

    • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
    • Walk, sit, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces.
