    Job Description

    CORAM DEO ACADEMY OFFERS A RICH BENEFITS PACKAGE, INCLUDING:

    POSITION SUMMARY:  The Human Resources Generalist possesses an ultimate customer service attitude and is responsible for supporting the daily human resources function for the organization, including talent acquisition, onboarding, managing HRIS data and reporting, and supporting the rich culture of Coram Deo Academy. S/he will thrive in a structured environment while embracing new and efficient ways of improving the department.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

    • Collaborate with members of the Human Resources Department to maximize efficiency and organization within the department.
    • Support internal and external human resources related inquiries or requests from employees and vendors.
    • Assist with the talent acquisition process, including organizing job postings on various platforms and reviewing applications for communication to managers.
    • Create offer letters for new hires and returning faculty/staff members.
    • Create and update job descriptions for faculty and staff, as requested.
    • Assist with the review and update of CDA policies and procedures, as requested.
    • Maintain departmental files in the electronic HRIS and physical filing system.
    • Complete administrative elements of the new employee onboarding process, including ordering name tag, assigning required training, reference checks, background checks, and filing required paperwork.
    • Communicate benefit offerings to newly hired and eligible employees, ensuring they receive all related documentation to make an informed decision.
    • Complete administrative elements of the offboarding process.
    • Administer the Covid Leave Policy, communicating with employees regarding the leave process and their options/responsibilities for returning to work.
    • Assist in the day-to day functions related to benefits plans, including handling phone and email inquiries, benefit deduction research and adjustments.
    • Organize and issue quarterly and yearly performance evaluations to employees, as requested.
    • Other duties, as requested by the Director of Human Resources.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of the general principles and practices of human resources management and employment law.
    • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, rules and regulations governing employment practices.
    • Knowledge of HR Information Systems (HRIS), including Paycom or similar application.
    • Skilled in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and MS Outlook.
    • Skilled in delivering high quality, accurate work with attention to detail.
    • Skilled in time management with the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
    • Skilled in planning and problem-solving.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills.
    • Ability to organize thoughts, ideas, and work in a way that is structured and understandable.
    • Ability to build and maintain effective and professional relationships with employees and constituents.
    • Ability to present a positive and professional image of Coram Deo Academy.
    • Uncompromising set of professionalism, ethics and integrity required; ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.
    • Ability to maintain personnel records accurately and timely.
    • Ability to work sensitively independently as well as in groups.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population of employees.
    • Ability to work autonomously without constant direction or guidance.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field, required.
    • 3-5 years of progressively developing responsibilities within a Human Resources environment, required.
    • Experience with school environment/non-profit/social services in an HR capacity, preferred.
    • SHRM-CP/PHR, preferred.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas.
    • Employee must be able to access all components of workstation and office equipment.
    • Frequent typing, writing, bending and twisting. Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
    • General office environment with moderate noise.
    • Position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
    • Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time.
