    Job Description

    Core BTS seeks an Information Systems Technology Architect that will be responsible for the research and design of the physical and virtual computing infrastructure. They participate in a variety of activities, including: researching emerging technologies, defining requirements, assessing server, storage, workstation and infrastructure sizing, analyzing hardware and virtual configurations to meet application requirements, and designing load balancing and clustering solutions. They are required to prepare architectural design documentation, including diagrams and inventories.

    The Information Systems Technology Architect reviews business plans, strategic direction, and standards for procedures and policies as they relate to systems architecture. They work with IT teams to ensure application requirements are understood and translated to technical solutions.

    The Information Systems Technology Architect is responsible for the design, ongoing implementation, and management of the organizations technology and infrastructure architecture and providing advanced and/or specialized technical/management support. They develop and sustain an architectural framework for the organization including all aspects of the technology infrastructure including public, private, and wireless networking, client/server and storage infrastructure, end use computing technologies, infrastructure security, medical equipment management, and healthcare specific infrastructure.

    THIS IS A FULL-TIME POSITION WITH A DIRECT HIRE OPTION.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conducts network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies
    • Designs, analyzes, plans, and modifies network components
    • Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system
    • Conducts lab testing on new and existing hardware and software including network, security and cloud products
    • Works with partners and vendors on feature roadmaps and deployment for new services and products
    • Serves as a technical escalation point for engineering, operations and delivery while mentoring junior team members
    • Works to develop new tools and systems to automate tasks or to improve existing ones
    • Plans, designs and implements networked systems, including configurations, and supports/troubleshoots network problems
    • Develops and evaluates network performance criteria, monitoring and measurement methods
    • Prepares the analysis of the forecasted capacity needs for network infrastructure
    • Supports the development of a cloud center of excellence relative to network design, configuration and ongoing support
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 5 – 9 years of experience in network engineering and architecture on carrier IP networks (CLEC/ISP)
    • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on routing, switching and load balancing experience
    • 5+ years of experience architecting service provider networks running on IP networks (running Ethernet, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, Layer 2 Switching, etc.)
    • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and resolving complex routing and switching problems in an IP based carrier network
    • Intimate knowledge of IP and Ethernet industry landscape including IP Core equipment, service enabling devices, Ethernet switch vendors, etc.
    • Intimate understanding of the design and operation of large-scale IP wired and wireless networks from the network core.
    • Experience with Linux and excellent knowledge of core network services (DNS, SMTP, NTP, syslog, HTTP).
    • Experience with programming Python or shell scripting, especially as it relates to SDN.
    • Strong in-depth networking product and technology knowledge is a must, Cisco knowledge is desired
    • Expert level knowledge in routing and switching protocol (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS) • Strong knowledge of LAN technologies (LAN design standards and best practices)
    • Strong knowledge and experience with enterprise networking technologies, such as MPLS, IPSec VPN, DMVPN, VPLS, etc.
    • Strong knowledge of IPv6, multicast, QoS, IP fast rerouting, etc.
    • Strong knowledge of network security and enterprise security, SIEM, DLP, IDS/IPS, NGFW, etc.
    • Experience in designing data center networks including solid understanding of best practices, scalability strategy, and managed security services.
    • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure technologies, such as virtualization, virtual switches, virtual routers
    • Knowledge of SDN, NFV, and SD-WAN Certifications
    • Cisco 'E' level certification is a plus
    • Additional security and VoIP certification is a plus

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • BS Degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent experience
    • Prior experience managing global teams that provide 24/7 support to clients and customers
    • Willingness and ability to conduct meetings and provide support outside of normal working hours
    • Ability to work effectively with clients, senior management, staff and vendors
    • Previous experience working with/presenting to an executive audience
    • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills required.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required.
