    Job Description

    IT Application Specialist is the user and technical support for a subset of software applications and assists with the set-up and maintenance of application security for designated applications.

    This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Infor/Lawson
    • EMR/PM
    • Kronos
    • Centricity EHR

    Acting as the liaison between application users and the application support team or software vendors, the incumbent assists with all the activities required for design specifications, implementation, documentation and maintenance of application software. They will work closely with the application users and software vendors to gain intricate knowledge of the applications supported.

    This position is Full-Time, and will require reporting in-person for all work performed. 

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Provides user and technical support to staff for supported software applications, which includes Business and/or Clinical applications
    • 2nd level support to the Application Support Team
    • Investigates and diagnoses user reported issues to determine the source, resolve, or escalate to appropriate team
    • Creates and maintains technical application documents and user documentation for all supported software
    • Collaborates with business users, Application Support Team, and software vendors to ensure reliable operation of software while fulfilling business objectives and processes
    • Assists with developing and documenting requirements for application design, or change request
    • Assists with writing and implementing software test scripts for new and existing applications, including software upgrades and service pack installations
    • Assists with Application testing
    • Creates and updates user training documentation for new, and existing applications
    • Trains end-users on new or existing software functionality and/or procedural, or process changes when required
    • Collaborates with Application Support Team to coordinate and test enhancements, upgrades, patches, and fixes
    • Communicates with Help Desk staff regularly
    • Identifies changes and enhancements to applications that may affect users
    • Applies, maintains, and documents data element changes /configurations within the software application
    • Assists with the set-up, maintenance, and documentation of application security for designated applications
    • Leads small to medium sized projects for software testing and implementation as requested
    • Masters new tools and services to maintain and develop competence in the support area
    • Participates on projects and committees as requested
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION REQUIRED:

    • Associates degree in field of Computer Science or a related field or four years of equivalent experience

    EDUCATION PREFERRED:

    • Bachelor’s degree in field of Computer Science or a related field

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • At least 3 year(s) of job related experience, specifically in Application Support

    EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

    • Experience working in a clinical setting using an Electronic Medical Record System strongly preferred
    • Basic Knowledge of Structural Query Language (SQL)
    • Basic Knowledge of database design
    • Basic Report writing skills
    • Accounting/Finance or medical billing experience preferred
    • Data analysis skills
    • Basic familiarity with server configuration in relation to the application

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Knowledge of software applications (i.e. ERP), time keeping applications (i.e. Kronos) Learning Management Systems.  
    • Comprehension of database concepts
    • Reporting capacity using SQL, SSRS or Crystal Reports
    • Experience with MS Word , Excel and MSO365
    • Install and upgrade software on client workstations
    • Proven capability to document application functionality such as user documentation or training manuals
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • An understanding of the project management processes
    • Proven ability to lead small to medium projects as related to application support
    • Aptitude for teaching or training users to use applications
    • Must be able to work on a team and work independently  
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Strong background in math
    • Ability to understand project requirements
    • High level of written and verbal communication skills required
