    Serves as a Database Administrator for the Recruiting Support Program of the Army Human Resources Command (HRC).The Command’s mission is, “Provide a full and fair hearing to determine a Soldier's physical fitness for continued military service; if found unfit, determine level and type of compensation, and take action to separate or retire the Soldier when their career is interrupted by a physical disability.” Incumbent will perform database administration functions to meet the business requirements in support of the Army’s recruiting mission, ensuring databases are secure, scalable, tuned and defect free.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    Responsible for providing Oracle/Sybase Database Administration in an enterprise environment. Must be able to install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade and document all aspects of the of the Oracle/Sybase/ETL architecture. Must be able to perform optimization and performance testing, provide technical support for incident response and reporting and provide on-call support as needed. Must be able to implement and maintain a secure environment in compliance with all IA and DoD STIG guidelines.

    Qualifications - Required

    •Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. Or a Master’s degree in related discipline. Four (4) years related experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

    •Two (2)+ years of database experience maintaining Oracle/Sybase databases

    •U.S. Citizen

    •Secret Security Clearance

    •Security + Certification

    •Ability to obtain a certification relevant to the computing environment, such as Oracle Certified Associate, with the first 90 days of employment

    •Ability to work independently and in a team environment at a fast pace with multiple deadlines

    •Knowledge to create and maintain replication tables, perform subscription materialization, define data server functions, establish replication functions, manage warm standby applications, maintain routes, maintain and manage database connections, handle errors and exceptions, recover databases, and reconcile database inconsistencies

    •Provide administration for databases including the following: install, configure, start/stop, upgrade, monitor, manage, and maintain database triggers, stored procedures, third party tools, replication, clustering, and transaction monitoring.

    •Maintain documentation of the database/instance configurations

    •Configure database backups and ensure backups are executed successfully

    •Perform routine data acquisition process per instructions provided through change management process

    •Perform routine database loads/transformation per instructions provided through change management process

    •Perform routine table denormalization per instructions provided through change management process

    •Apply Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs) on all databases

    •Apply database patches and updates quarterly

    •Open support tickets with database vendor as needed

    Qualifications - Desired:

    •Knowledge of Army human resources data and processes

    •Oracle/Sybase certifications or other relevant certifications a plus
