    Job Description

    CONTROLLER ONTARIO, CA THE POSITION:

    • Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of periodic financial reporting and the management of all finance and accounting functions and processes. Must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage, and when necessary performs, the posting of transactions to the general ledger including journal entries, invoices, etc.
    • Manage, and when necessary perform, monthly, quarterly and year-end reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
    • Prepare monthly financial reporting package for Corporate office
    • Perform detailed monthly review of financial statements vs. budget and prior periods to understand and explain variances and discrepancies
    • Oversee implementation of new software products for both financial reporting and operations
    • Work closely with Corporate implementation team in order to identify potential improvements necessary to properly adopt new systems
    • Lead the process of data conversion from legacy system, testing the system for functional requirements along the way
    • Compile and update monthly work in progress (WIP) reports for Officer's review
    • Review and approve invoices to be paid, as well as reviewing accounts receivable aging reports ensuring action is being taken on past due balances
    • Verify that subcontractor invoices are billed, and that the associated customer billings are processed at a reasonable profit margin
    • Create and manage all new vehicle and equipment purchase loan amortization schedules and monthly payments
    • Maintain the monthly completion of company debt and asset depreciation spreadsheets
    • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents & reports
    • Support project coordinators in managing percent completion on contract payments, remaining funding available per job and any funding requirements
    • Lead the external annual financial audit process ensuring support documentation is provided in an accurate and timely fashion
    • Assist in processing year-end 401k census, W-2s, and 1099 forms
    • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Proven experience as a controller or other similar position with experience in the construction industry preferred
    • Preferred experience in MS D365 F&O or prior experience in similar platforms
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
    • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
    • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
    • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
    • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
    • High degree of organization, accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
    • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
    • High degree of problem-solving ability
    • Ability to switch tasks as needed
    • Degree in accounting, finance or relevant field is preferred
    • A background in Construction or Telecom is ideal.
    • Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus
