    Job Description

    The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for providing leadership for assuring product compliance with company quality requirements for finished footwear and related sub-assemblies, components, and raw materials for all manufacturing both domestic and international.  This position will also be responsible for quality deliverables and customer complaint analysis and resolution, as well as new product introductions and approving product changes.  Responsibility will also include helping to develop and maintain the Global Quality Management System that drives a quality first mindset and culture throughout the organization.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage, empower, and develop an effective functional quality team through appropriate selection, coaching/training/development, reward/recognition, communication and enforcement/role modeling of company policies and procedures.

    • Provide leadership for assuring compliance with company quality and regulatory requirements.

    • Participate in development and effectively implements quality strategies to optimize current capabilities.  Identify future needs and formulate/implement action plans.

    • Oversees quality improvement projects assuring execution to plan, early identification/remediation of corrective measures and engagement of appropriate stakeholders.

    • Provides quality expertise throughout the product lifecycle including but not limited to product creation, commercialization, domestic/3rd party manufacturing, shipping and customer inquiries.

    • Audits external vendors to ensure compliance with quality and internal business requirements.

    • Develops and implements goals and action plans that align with Supply Chain and other business partners to achieve key business objectives: safety, quality, cost, service, people.

    • Insure effective collaboration within Supply Chain, product creation and all other business partners.

    • Achieve financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions and effectively partnering with other stakeholders.

    • Develop product traceability processes and systems and provide leadership for execution.

    • Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.

    • Ensures the Post Market Quality team evaluates field performance, analyze field performance trends against goals/predictions, and recommends corrective action when necessary.

    • Leads quality improvements through sharing of lessons learned on existing field issues/ concerns across the business network.

    • Provide program management support and leadership for resolution of critical quality issues, including oversight and guidance of the preparation of impact assessments.

    • Interact with business unit leadership and internal experts on risk analysis and refinement of mitigations plans.

    • Drive continuous improvement culture within the Quality Function by leading projects and coaching project teams.

    • CAPA Board Member providing critical oversight to investigations and actions.

    • Partner with Product Creation and premarket Quality to advocate and support product improvements on released products, successfully transfer new commercially released products into the group and share lessons learned to prevent future product issues.

         

      OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Obtain necessary information by maintaining knowledge of RWSC’s electronic communication and other systems.

    • Develop and document detailed footwear quality standards by style or product family.

    • Maintain quality service by developing and maintaining department level quality system procedures (QSP’s) and standards.   

    • Uphold and role model Red Wing Shoe Company’s core values, policies and procedures.

    • Safeguard the assets of the Company, treating all technical developments, operational data, information on salaries and wages, customer lists, and similar data as required.

    • Comply with all governmental laws and regulations which pertain to the responsibilities of the position.

    • Assure Company awareness of industry standards and new/innovative practices by establishing and maintaining strong industry networks and continuous learning.

    • Complete other duties as assigned from time to time by your manager.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor of Science degree and 5 - 7 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

    • Experience with Footwear, Leather, or Apparel Manufacturing highly desirable.

       ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Manufacturing leadership experience in quality required (footwear manufacturing strongly preferred)

    • Excellent Communication (verbal, written, listening) skills with all levels

    • Strong Collaboration and Team Building skills

    • Exceptional Influencing and Negotiating skills

    • Advanced Statistical Methods  

    • Superior Analytical Skills including LEAN/TPS working knowledge

    • Advance Statistical Skills (ANOVA, DOE, etc.)

    • Strong systems skills

    • Drive for results and superior execution
